There are many reasons someone may not be able to hear well. It could be due to aging, infection, and sometimes something as simple as ear wax. In fact, wax is one of the most common causes of hearing loss. Luckily, there is a solution for this.
My Ears Don’t Feel Full of Wax - So Why Bother?
Surprisingly, they don’t have to feel full of wax - they can still be full! It's a very slow process, but wax accumulates in the ear canal, and the change is so subtle...it’s difficult to notice a difference in hearing until the wax is impacted!
What is Earwax Made of?
Earwax is made of cerumen, which is an oily substance secreted by glands in the ear. It typically makes its way out of the ear by the ear opening (the only way the wax can get out), but other times, the wax accumulates over time and blocks the canal - leading to hearing loss.
Is Earwax Harmful?
Nope! The substance itself does not irritate or cause harm to the skin. It may be wise to get it checked every so often, to assess if there is accumulation. People of all ages can experience this, from small children to older adults. Accumulation of earwax may lead to reduced hearing and balance, which has the potential to affect safety.
